Here’s what’s new on our website since last Sunday:

Home Page Sunday Schedule – At worship next Sunday, Aug. 19, Steve Scott will present reflections titled, “Being UU in an Era of Blood-Sport Politics.” He will show that while the current era of blood-sport, winner-take-all politics marked by xenophobia and hyper-nationalism may feel new and different, it’s actually a recurring pattern in American history. He will also explore how we as UUs can resist these ugly phenomena while remaining true to our principles.

Forum, Mindfulness Meditation and R.E. classes will take place at their usual times. After worship, the Caring Ministry Team and Accessibility and Inclusion Ministry (AIM) Team will hold monthly meetings.

In the late afternoon, we’ll be serving dinner at Loaves and Fishes. Please sign up here to provide food or help with setup, serving and cleanup.

Job Opportunities – Our long-time Church Administrator, Kathie Bergman, will be retiring this fall, and Rev. Molly has posted the job opening here. You’ll find a button near the top of the home page to quickly access the Job Opportunities page.

Home Page Sunday Schedule – Rev. Molly will be in the pulpit next Sunday, Aug. 12, with a sermon titled “All the Way Down,” in which she will explore what fractals have to do with daily life, our community, and the work of justice and love.

Forum, Mindfulness Meditation and R.E. classes will take place at their usual times. After worship, the Sanctuary Team (Immigrant Ministry) will hold its regular monthly meeting.

Archived Podcast – Youths Speak Out on Gun Violence – From our archives, you can listen to our YRUU youths share their feelings and thoughts about gun violence and the toll it has taken on their young lives. The podcast also is linked on the Sermon Archive page.

Home Page – At worship next Sunday, Aug. 5, our delegates to the UUA General Assembly will present their reflections on this year’s G.A. in Kansas City in late June.

Also next Sunday, Forum, Mindfulness Meditation and R.E. classes will take place at their normal times. After worship, the monthly “Getting to Know UU” session will be held, and the Social Action Team will hold its regular meeting. Later, there will be a phone bank for Missouri Faith Voices.

Here’s what’s new on our website since last Sunday:

Home Page – Join us at worship next Sunday, July 29, for a lively “Joyful Noise” multi-generational service celebrating the power of music in many forms. You’ll have the opportunity to sing, dance, and otherwise make a joyful noise! There will be no R.E. classes on July 29 because children are welcome and invited to be in the sanctuary for multi-generational worship services. Forum and Mindfulness Meditation will take place at their usual times.

Green Sanctuary Team – The Green Sanctuary Team page has been completely revamped to highlight the team’s purpose and activities and explain the process of applying for Green Sanctuary Certification from the Unitarian Universalist Association. Many thanks to Jan Weaver for providing the updated information.

New Podcast: “Try a Little Tenderness” – In her sermon “Try a Little Tenderness” on July 15, 2018, the Rev. Molly Housh Gordon explored what it means to engage tenderness as a tactic of resistance in a time when appeals to security, strength and “other-ing” are used to oppress. She suggested how to bring softness and openness to the time at hand. Listen to her sermon here. You can find other podcasts on our Audio Recordings page. Home Page – For worship at 10:30 a.m. next Sunday, July 22, join Director of Religious Education Jamila Batchelder for a spiritual exploration of human sexuality and learn about our wonderful Our Whole Lives program of comprehensive sexuality education for all ages.

New Podcast – July 8 – Everything Must Change: A Woman Gets Older – On Sunday, July 8, 2018, our worship service explored “Everything Must Change: A Woman Gets Older,” organized by Connie Ordway. What does it mean for a woman to age in this society? Connie mapped the journey for women to reclaim their status as “Wise Women” with the help of several other women. You can listen to the worship service here. The podcast is also linked on the Audio Recordings and Sermon Archive pages.

Home Page – Rev. Molly will be in the pulpit at worship on Sunday, July 15, with a sermon titled “Try a Little Tenderness.” She will explore how we can bring softness and openness to the time at hand when appeals to security, strength, and other-ing are used to oppress – and what it means to engage tenderness as a tactic of resistance.

On the home page you’ll also find the schedule of Sunday morning activities on July 15, as well as notice of our monthly turn at serving the evening meal at Loaves and Fishes next Sunday. Sign up here to provide food or to help set up, serve and clean up at Loaves and Fishes.

Home Page – Newly featured on the home page is a short video of our YRUU youth carrying our church banner in the banner parade at the opening session of the UUA General Assembly on June 20.

On the home page you’ll also find the schedule of Sunday morning activities on July 8, including the worship service, “Everything Must Change: A Woman Gets Older,” in which Connie Ordway will map the journey for aging women to reclaim their status as “Wise Women.” R.E. classes, Forum and Mindfulness Meditation take place at their usual times.

New Photo Page: “Spiritual Tools to Sustain Us” – This morning Rev. Molly’s homily featured four spiritual tools to sustain us in these trying times. See photos from the service on this new photo page, which is also now linked on the Photos & Video page.
