Monthly Potluck

Setting up tables in the sanctuary

Note: Options for an opportunity for members and friends to break bread together are currently being explored in view of the commencement of two worship services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sept. 13, 2015. A survey is being conducted to help make a decision. The information below describes the monthly potlucks as they existed through Sept. 6, 2015.

On the first Sunday of each month, we gather for loving fellowship and hearty eating so we can get to know each other better and build lifelong friendships. Our “First Sunday Potluck” immediately follows the 11 a.m. worship service and begins about 12:15 p.m.

We ask regular attendees to bring a main dish or side dish sufficient to serve six-eight people so we will have plenty of food, and we invite all guests to join us, whether or not they have brought food.

To promote sustainability, our Green Sanctuary Team urges everyone to consider bringing their own plates and utensils.

We also ask attendees, In addition to their potluck contributions, to bring one or more non-perishable food items for the food barrel upstairs near the coat rack. When the barrel is full, the food is taken to the Central Pantry, which serves Columbia and Boone County.

Everyone pitches in, making light work of setup, serving and cleanup. After the worship service, we spring into action to move chairs and set up tables in the sanctuary, where we eat. We also set up the serving line in our spacious Greeting Area. Because the potluck cannot be sustained without willing volunteers to help with food service setup and kitchen cleanup, there is an online signup sheet for the next month’s potluck.
