March 20 was a generation-spanning Sunday at UUCC. A farewell reception at 10:15 a.m. for our beloved Minister Emerita, the Rev. Gertrude Lindender-Stawski, was bracketed by 9 and 11 a.m. “Youth Sunday” worship services led by YRUU, our high school youth group.
Rev. Gertrude will soon leave Columbia to live with her daughter in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She was the first settled minister in our church history, serving from 1980 until her retirement in 1986, and continued as a member after retirement.
The youth-led worship services focused on the women’s health services provided by Planned Parenthood and included presentation of about $400 that YRUU raised to donote to Planned Parenthood. See the video of the service below produced by Tech Team member Larry Lile.
