Faith-to-Action Collections

Twice each month our offerings are designated as Faith-to-Action Collections for specific causes and groups. All cash, as well as checks not designated for some other purpose, are given to the designated recipient of such collections, which are a project of our Social Action Team.

The congregation had an opportunity to vote for the 2016-2017 Faith-to-Action recipients each Sunday in August 2016, and based on the vote, the Social Action Team announced on Sept. 4, 2016 that this year’s recipients will be:

  • Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture (CCUA) – total collected $944.70
  • Loaves and Fishes – total collected $1,068.01
  • Festival of Sharing – total collected $1,107.20
  • Race Matters, Friends – total collected $1,220.75
  • Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (MADP) – total collected $1,636.07
  • The Center Project – total collected $1,035.00
  • Mid-MO Pride Coalition – scheduled for May 2017
  • Honduras Project – total collected $960.32
  • Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) – total collected $1,517.00

In 2016-17 each Faith-to-Action recipient will receive two collections – both in the same month. This change will help us better partner with the organizations we support financially.

Potential Faith-to-Action recipients were nominated by the Social Action Team’s sub-teams – Anti-Racism, Economic Justice and LGBTQ Justice – and the Green Sanctuary Team.  Congregants chose the recipients listed above from the list of nominees.
