Welcome to the church nurturing spirit and service – a liberal religious voice lighting a moral beacon in Central Missouri. In the spirit of courageous love, we forge a community of radical welcome and deep connection that moves us together to heal the world.

Sunday at UUCC – Oct. 4, 2015

Worship Services – 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

animal_blessing“All Creatures of the Earth and Sky” – Blessing of the Animals – Rev. Molly Housh Gordon and DRE Shanon Dickerson – Accessible Order of Service

Join us for an Intergenerational Blessing of the Animals Service. This service is a time when we rededicate ourselves to the care of other creatures and learn about the beloved animals in the lives of our fellow members and friends.

You may bring a photo of your pet or your well-behaved pet in a carrier or on a leash. You may also bring a photo of any deceased pets you would like to honor during a time of remembrance.

Other Programs and Activities

9 a.m. – Forum Adult Discussion – Library/Forum Room, Lower Level

George Frissell will return for his semi-annual visit to review another of the world’s religions.

10 to 11 a.m. – Finger Food Potluck – Greeting Area

This Sunday, Oct. 4, is a first Sunday. In lieu of the usual potluck lunch, we will be experimentally trying one of the options we have brainstormed as a possible alternative  – a Finger Food Potluck from 10 to 11 a.m. between the two services. Please bring a snack to share that is easy to eat with your fingers. Here are some fun and fancy fall finger food ideas! Because of our Pet Blessing service and the anticipated beautiful fall weather, this will be an indoor/outdoor gathering.
This experiment is for October only, at this point, as we continue to gather input and consider the future of our fellowship and food opportunities amid the two-Sunday-service format. You can still weigh in here on our survey about these questions until Sunday.

11:15 a.m. – Children’s Religious Education Classes

This Sunday all of the children and youths will attend the entire intergenerational Animal Blessing worship service. Nursery care will be provided.

On most Sundays our children’s R.E. program offers classes for pre-schoolers through high school students, as well as nursery care for infants. The Sunday School children and youths attend the first 15 minutes of the 11 a.m. worship service in the Sanctuary with their families before going to their regular classes. Check class plans on the R.E. Schedule page.

12:15 p.m. – Religious Education Team meeting – Centering Room, Lower Level

The R.E. Team will hold its regular monthly meeting.
